How does Oil affect the Environment?
What are the Alternatives to Fossil Fuels?
Renewable
alternatives to fossil fuels for generating
electricity
include
Bio-Fuel Plantations, Geothermal Power, Fuel Cells,
Solar Photo Voltaic Power Systems (Solar Energy),
Wind Turbines and Tidal Power.
These energy
sources are called renewable
because
they
don't run out. They can often produce cheaper
electricity
than burning fossil fuels,
and they are less polluting.
Not
all of the above energy sources
are suited to all parts
of the planet, but in the absence of non-polluting energy
yet
to be discovered, they are the power sources of the
future.
Renewable alternatives
can not currently replace
fossil fuels entirely. Our need for electricity
means that
we must use a variety
of ways to generate it.
