How does Oil affect the Environment?
The Extraction and Transport of Oil can cause Pollution.
We are all familiar with the consequences of oil spillage
from
supertankers.
Spilt oil
is washed onto beaches
causing damage to marine plants, animals and bird
life.
Oil extraction can be a source of pollution
with accidents, spillages and leaking
pipelines.
Pollution can be kept to a minimum by employing the
highest standards of safety, with regular
checks and controls.
This costs money, and adds to the cost of
the product.
